Former alderman in Utrecht and now the new State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport, Maarten van Ooijen (32) was in Zeist this week to hear the stories behind the Neighborhood Family Foundation and other similar initiatives. Annette was also invited as an experience expert. “He asked: what is your story? I was quite excited to share my story. It is very personal to tell your story, it makes you vulnerable. But I feel like I can help other families with this as well.” According to Annette, it was a nice conversation with the young secretary of state. “He also has two children of his own that he sometimes wants to stick behind the wallpaper, so he understood my situation well. He wants much more publicity for these types of low-threshold citizens’ initiatives.”
