The World Swimming Championships (June 18 – July 3) started today with a new consultant at France Télévisions: Camille Lacourt. The five-time world champion was recruited for how the Worlds but also the European championships which will take place in Rome (August 11-21).
The former swimmer did not hide his joy at joining the public service group to our colleagues from TV Magazine : “When the leaders of France Télévisions called me to tell me that they were interested in my profile, I smiled and said yes right away because it’s something I like. It’s really an honor and a privilege to be able to comment on my discipline and convey all the emotions that there may be in the pools.”

Biography of Camille Lacourt. Camille Lacourt was born on April 22, 1985 in Narbonne in the department of Aude in Occitanie. A French professional swimmer, he was a specialist in the 50 and 100 meter backstroke before retiring in 2017. He was French champion many times. The son of two mailman parents, he discovered swimming at the age of five when he joined the La Cabanasse club. Richard Martinez, his trainer also runs the Font-Romeu swimming hopefuls center, a structure that Camille Lacourt joined at the age of 16. At that time, he won several bronze medals in backstroke races in the cadet category (50 and 100 meters). In 2004, as a junior, he won two French champion titles, again in the 50 and 100 meter backstroke.
