In Morocco, four women filed a complaint Friday, June 17 for sexual harassment against Jacques Bouthier, the former French boss of the insurance brokerage group Assu 2000. The 75-year-old man, one of the great fortunes of the Hexagon, this is not his first case of harassment: since last May, he has already been imprisoned in France for ” rape of a minor “.
Four Moroccan complainants, aged 26 to 28, filed a complaint with the public prosecutor of Tangier. Jacques Bouthier is targeted by several counts, in particular ” human trafficking », « sexual harassment ” and ” verbal and moral abuse “. According to Karima Salama, lawyer for the Moroccan Association for Victims’ Rights, the facts occurred between 2018 and 2022.
The young women speak of systematic harassment, threats, intimidation… all this in a climate of social precariousness. One of them claimed to have been fired after refusing the advances of the former French CEO. Another explained that he was not doing it alone: He had an army of leaders who were complicit “, she confided.
The plaintiffs speak of boozy parties organized by Jeacques Bouthier where he offered sexual intercourse for benefits: those who refused lived a ” hell “.
The president of the Moroccan association for the rights of victims, Me Aïcha Guella, affirms that there are witnesses and evidence: she speaks of exchanges on WhatsApp or by email. She is convinced that other women have suffered the same abuse and hopes that they too will be able to speak out and file a complaint.
These confessions remain remarkable in Morocco where the victims of sexual abuse are still often stigmatized by society.
