Färjestad won Swedish Championship gold.
Now Staffan Kronwall believes that they are heading for a new era of greatness.
– I believe in good coaches and strong leaders. I think they found it, he says in the podcast Släpp Sargen.
Färjestad had not won gold in over ten years, but before the season just ended, they were singled out as one of the big favorites. They made several super signings, including in the NHL pros Jacob de la Rose and Joakim Nygård, but initially it went tough.
“Towards a new era of greatness”
Färjestad had a hard time getting all the star names to work together, and they had particularly big problems on the defensive. This led to changes both in the role of sports director and on the coaching side. It would turn out to be worth its weight in gold. In a thrilling final series against Luleå, Färjestad finally won the seventh and decisive final, and the celebration never wanted to end in Luleå, and then in Karlstad.
When C More expert Staffan Kronwall gets a straight question in the podcast Släpp Sargen about which team he – despite being extremely early – has as a gold favorite for next season, he does not hesitate long.
– If I only have to look at the organization, and not the troops, because the troops are far from nailed, I think Färjestad is heading for a time of greatness, he says.
Took shelves the coach
Staffan Kronwall believes that coach Thomas Mitell is the right man in the right place.
– They have brought in an extremely competent coach, who I got a damn good feeling for his first match, when I met him. When you meet a new coach that you do not know and may not have seen much, you ask a few questions to see what you get for answers, and he got everyone right on my questions. I said it to my colleagues directly: “Färjestad wins gold within three years”. Now they already won the first year, he says.
Kronwall believes, however, that it is too early to point out any given gold favorite, but that FBK is heading for a really strong period.
– I believe in good coaches, and strong leaders, and I think they have found it. I think Färjestad is heading for a new era of greatness, but if you win, it is too early to say. But you will be a top team for several years to come.
