Amazon Prime is competing with Netflix: With The Summer I Turned Pretty, the streaming service is showing a new teen series that Coming-of-age and RomCom elements united with each other. Actually, these stories are Netflix’s hobbyhorse. But this time Amazon has been awarded the contract for the film adaptation.
The Summer I Turned Pretty goes back to the novel of the same name by Jenny Han, which is behind a very similar stocked Netflix trilogy stuck: Han wrote the template to the To All the Boys films, which were released from 2018 to 2021. This time she’s even involved as a co-creator.
After To All the Boys on Netflix, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows on Amazon Prime
The story centers on young Belly (Lola Tung) who, on her 16th birthday, decides it’s time for her first great summer love has come. She’s basically been in love with Conrad (Christopher Briney) for years, but then unexpectedly develops feelings for his brother, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

Season 1 of The Summer I Turned Pretty includes a total of seven episodes, which you can stream now on Amazon Prime. There is also good news for fans of the template: Season 2 has already been orderedwhich means that at least the second book of the underlying trilogy will also be filmed.
Jenny Hans Summer trilogy consists of The Summer I Turned Pretty (2009), It’s Not Summer Without You (2010) and We’ll Always Have Summer (2011). If the series is successful, it should only be a matter of time before Amazon Prime gives the green light for a third season to adapt the last part.
