From July 5, 2022, new fragrances will be banned in children’s toys. Which ?

As of Tuesday, July 5, 2022, three additional fragrant substances have been added to the list of 55 substances already prohibited in games or toys for children, specifies a decree published in the Official Journal of February 17, 2022. They would indeed be likely to be allergenic. These are atranol, chloroatranol, which are extracts of oak moss containing tannins, and methyl heptin carbonate, a synthetic molecule with the smell of violets and plants”, specifies the government which adds that “the list of 11 allergenic fragrance substances (benzyl cinnmate, citronellol, d-limonene, etc.) whose presence must be indicated on the game, on an attached label or on the packaging when they exceed a concentration of 100 mg/kg of the toy or its components, is also supplemented by a list of 71 additional substances (camphor, menthol, vanilin, eucalyptus spp. leaf oil, rose flower oil, lavendula officinalis, turpentine, etc.)”

In which toys are these allergenic substances found?

These substances are most often found in olfactory board games, cosmetic boxes such as soap, shampoo, varnish or make-up making kits, or taste toys such as boxes for culinary preparations or sweets, designed for children over three years old.
