[Mis à jour le 12 juin 2022 à 23h01] In the 1st district of the North, Adrien Quatennens comes first. The full results indicate that candidate Nupes is in the lead with 52.05% of the votes, followed by Vanessa Duhamel (Ensemble) at 21.07% and Carole Leclercq at 10.27%. Coordinator of La France insoumise, a leading figure in the party, the 32-year-old elected official intends to keep his seat at the Palais Bourbon. In the columns of The voice of the Northhe boasts of his record, both nationally -“[j’ai été] of all social and environmental mobilizations, including the Yellow Vests” and local – ensuring that LFI was the only party “to defend zero construction on the Saint-Sauveur wasteland” -, therefore aspiring to continue its mission. Candidate under the NUPES banner , does this faithful Jean-Luc Mélenchon re-pile to the deputation?
What result can Adrien Quatennens expect in the legislative elections?
Outgoing deputy, Adrien Quatennens seems to be in a good position to be re-elected deputy for the 1st district of the North. If his victory in 2017 had not been played out for much, the stripes, in particular media, taken by the thirties could allow him to aim for a victory a little more comfortable. The representative of the left is moving towards a ballot without a dissident candidacy on his political flank, unlike 2017 when opponents PS, EELV or even PCF faced him. The presidential majority will be represented by Vanessa Duhamel, opposition municipal councilor. But in this territory, Jean-Luc Mélenchon came out on top with 41.78% of the votes cast in the first round, well ahead of Emmanuel Macron (24.54%). What to bring Adrien Quatennens back to the National Assembly?
In 2017, Adrien Quatennens had to obtain his seat as a deputy by only a few tenths of a point, he had won the election with 50.11% of the votes in the 1st constituency of the North. Today the outgoing deputy aims to do better and the Nupes can allow him to obtain a wider victory, he is convinced of it. The union of the left is in the lead “in all opinion polls at the national level” welcomed the rebellious elected official during a press conference in Lille on May 20. Still it is necessary to transform the test and to be sure that the national opinion reflects that of the voters of the district. The results of the first round of the presidential election for their part abound in this direction. But doing better than in 2017 also means establishing itself as the majority force in the National Assembly to mark the beginning of a “new era”. During his interventions in the media, Adrien Quatennens never failed to attack the Borne government and the “socially brutal and ecologically irresponsible” project of Emmanuel Macron.
What reforms did Adrien Quatennens defend?
Installed in the National Assembly since 2017, Adrien Quatennens has worn the colors of rebellious France in the hemicycle which are also, by definition, those of part of the opposition to Emmanuel Macron. Like other rebellious deputies, and more broadly on the left, the elected representative from the North has always, or almost, gone against the decisions and projects of the presidential majority, as evidenced by his votes in the most important and emblematic decisions of the last five-year term. When he was not absent to vote on bills or reforms, the deputy was most of the time against it. One of the few decisions that has achieved consensus is that on the “bioethics” law which allows all women to have access to PMA. Of course, he voted in favor of LFI’s motion of censure on the pension reform, but for the rest there are essentially “against” votes: against the reform of unemployment insurance, that of the SNCF or that of the labor code, against the reform of the baccalaureate or against the Ségur Agreements for the revaluation of the work of caregivers.
Who is Adrien Quatennens?
His red hair quickly allowed him to stand out among the new deputies in 2017. Very present in the media, Adrien Quatennens is a northerner of origin, he who was born in Lille. His commitment began in 2006 against the first job contract. He then turned to Attac and associations helping the homeless. In parallel with his studies, which led him to become a customer advisor for EDF, he joined Jean-Luc Mélenchon as soon as he became an adult, in 2008, before joining the Left Party in 2013. He then gradually began its rise by defending the candidacies of its leader in the presidential election. Present on a Left Front list for the 2014 municipal elections in Lille, he failed to be elected. Three years later, he finally won a first national mandate and became a deputy.
