The entire American National Park is closed and the northern parts of the waterfall Tower Fall and Lamardalen can remain so for months. Major roads in the area have been washed away or buried in landslides.
Nearby cities lack gas and drinking water, and are also at risk of being hit by the absence of tourists who are important to the towns.
