A committee of inquiry set up by Congress has been investigating the events for ten months and its findings are now being reviewed.

The election lost several million votes to the president Donald Trump did not admit his defeat, and his supporters infiltrated the congress building he inspired to prevent the election result from being confirmed.
Five people died and several dozen were injured in the violence. A total of 860 Trump supporters are charged.
Today’s hearings will focus on attempts by Trump and his associates to get a vice president Mike Pence annul the election result.
– We can thank Mike Pence for his courage. On January 6, our democracy was close to disaster. Pence’s courage put him in immense danger. When Pence made it clear that he would not bow to Trump’s intrigue, Trump ordered a violent mob to attack him, the committee chairman said. Bennie Thompson in his opening remarks.
The hearing was followed by videos in which Trump urges his supporters to change Pence’s mind and in which the crowd shouts “hang Mike Pence.” The videos also showed how Trump supporters carried a hanging loop for Pence in front of the convention hall.
The hearing will hear two of Pence’s closest advisers, who were with him on 6 January.
