Kruys comes over from FC Utrecht, where he was an assistant coach for years and also a player in the past. After the resignation of head coach René Hake at the end of March, Kruys finished the season as interim head coach. FC Utrecht made the play-offs for European football, but lost to Vitesse in the semi-finals.
