In order for doctors and nurses who have come from Ukraine to obtain a Swedish ID, it is required that they can speak Swedish, that they pass a knowledge test and that they supplement with practical service.
“For many, this process is both long and arduous and we want to facilitate it by providing a context and an understanding of Swedish health care at an early stage,” says Johanna Adami, Rector of Sophiahemmet University, in a press release.
Sophiahemmet University therefore starts an introductory course for the Ukrainians who have come to Sweden according to the EU Mass Refugee Directive.
The course participants receive practical and theoretical training in English at the same time as they are taught in Swedish. The teaching takes place partly at a distance and is supplemented with language training and practical training in the participants’ immediate area.
“With this effort, we hope to be able to take advantage of the skills that people with identification professions from Ukraine possess. We want to make their path into Swedish health care as smooth as possible and help them to meaningful employment in Sweden,” says Johanna Adami .
