Chris Kreider met the media – again.
Then the star burst into tears when he talked about Mika Zibanejad.
– When your leader rises night after night…, he says.
These have been some tough days for the New York Rangers. They had a 2-0 lead in the conference final against Tampa Bay Lightning, but then lost four straight games and have thus finished playing for the season.
Strong words about Mika
When Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider met the media immediately after the match, they were noticeably taken and speechless. Mika Zibanejad was even close to tears when he talked about the feelings of having finished playing this season.
Zibanejad was widely praised for the pictures, and everyone agreed that it was one of the NHL’s strongest moments this season.
A few days have passed since then, but the Rangers players’ disappointment at missing the Stanley Cup final has not abated. On Monday night, the idea was that the big star Chris Kreider would meet the media, but suddenly his side was also Mika Zibanejad. Everyone wondered why, and it turned out that Zibanejad was there as emotional support.
Falling into tears
When Chris Kreider was then asked what he thought of Mika’s playoffs, he barely got the word out.
– I could not be more proud of how Mika has responded to this. When even the leader, and the best player in the team, responds to the challenges and rises night after night…, says Kreider, before he falls into tears.
After that, Kreider could not accept any more questions, but left, at the same time as he wiped away his tears. Once he stepped outside the door, he was greeted by a big hug from Mika.
