He is the World Cup’s foremost goal scorer of all time.
In the summer of 2016, Miroslav Klose put his shoes on the shelf as one of Germany’s biggest ever.
So he lives today.
Miroslav Klose is undoubtedly one of the most iconic football players of our time. He excelled, and was always the best on the biggest stage.
Mainly ever
Miroslav Klose is of course most remembered for his fabulous World Cup tournaments. A championship that the German really shone in, and no one else has found the net more times during the World Cup like Miroslav Klose. With his 16 bags, he has made one more than the Brazilian Ronaldo, and there is no active player that is close to Klose’s listing.
The record will surely stand for many more years, and Klose’s football name will live on in the history books forever. With his listing, he has become hugely recognized by the general public. There is no other football context with larger audience figures, and there Klose is enormously recognized.
He ended his national team career in the very best way. The striker won the entire championship with Germany in 2014, and started in the final. However, he left the field goalless and his last World Cup goal came in the historic overrun of Brazil in the semifinals – where Klose accounted for one of Germany’s seven goals.
So he lives today
Miroslav Klose also of course had a very successful club team career. He represented Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich, among others – but it was not in any of the clubs he scored the most matches or goals.
It was in Lazio that he belonged between the years 2011-2016 and thundered in 54 goals in 139 matches.
But all good has an end. After the 2015/16 season, Miroslav Klose thanked himself completely and took on new challenges in his football life. After his career, he has continued in the sport that is so close to his heart, and has, among other things, trained as a coach.
The former goal king has had several different roles within the German league, but declined to become assistant league captain to Hansi Flick as recently as a year ago.
Klose has previously stated that he is investing in becoming head coach – and it is probably only a matter of time before we soon see the German on the biggest stage again.
