Expect a traffic stop to Arlanda also on Sunday

On Sunday morning, the situation at Arlanda is basically the same as on Saturday, according to the press service.

Periodically, a lot of people arrive at the same time and it gets crowded, especially in foreign terminal 5.

Early in the morning had already been forced to stop traffic to the terminal for some hours. From 05.45 it had been released again.

– It’s okay now, but periodically there may be higher pressure and then it is not inconceivable that we will have to redirect the traffic again, says David Karlsson, at Swedavia’s press office at 06.30 in the morning.

Cars, taxis and buses are then referred to terminals 2 and 4, and passengers can then get from there to terminal 5, which provides a smoother flow of road users. The Arlanda Express express train is also not allowed to stop at terminal 5, but passengers can get off at the Arlanda south station.

The problems are thus caused in part that many travelers worry so much about missing their departure that they arrive at the airport in far too good an time, according to Swedavia.

The vast majority do not benefit from this, as only a few airlines accept baggage drop-off before check-in has opened. Check-in normally opens 2-3 hours before departure, so before that it is not worth it to get to the airport.

Before you have checked in, you can also not go through the security check.

– Then you will only be in a terminal where there are a lot of people, and will not be able to pass the security check, says David Karlsson.

Swedavia urges instead all travelers to check with their airline when check-in opens, and be in place then, but not several hours before this happens.

– The vast majority come with their flights just as usual. What we see is that it is narrower in the terminal than it needs to be.
