This Sunday (January 09, 2022), the Republika Srpska celebrates its birthday against a backdrop of secessionist temptation: the policy led by the Serbian entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina has given a new turn to the political and security crisis that the region is going through.
The specter of the 1990s hangs over the Western Balkans, under the eyes of a European Union which is struggling to counter the rise in nationalist tensions. The prospect of integration still seems very distant, the inhabitants of the region continue to leave their country: what form could a re-engagement, a reinvestment in the Balkans take, at the time of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union? ?
