On the Iringa-Mbeya highway, a passenger bus traveling from Dar es Salaam to Mbeya hit a malfunctioning truck from behind.

While rescue efforts were in progress, another truck crashed into the injured and those helping.
Allan Bukumbi, Police Chief of the Iringa region, stated that 19 people lost their lives and many injured in the incident.
While the injured were being treated at the Iringa regional hospital, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan expressed his condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives. (AA)
