(Finance) – The collaboration between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility (Mims) and the Ministry of University and Research (Mur) to accompany the transition ecological And digital identifying the best innovative and technological solutions for infrastructures and mobility systems. The Ministers Enrico Giovannini And Maria Cristina Messa they signed a memorandum of understanding which provides for joint cooperation in research and university, doctoral and vocational training to facilitate the transition of the mobility and infrastructure sector towards the European objectives of reducing emissions by 2030 and decarbonisation by 2050, in line with the European Green Deal and the ‘UN Agenda 2030.
“To accelerate the paradigm shift towards sustainable development in the infrastructure and mobility sectors, and in particular to win the great challenge embodied in the European package”Fit for 55‘, the contribution of research is essential to identify the most innovative technological solutions ”, explained the Minister Giovannini. “The collaboration between Mims and Mur must be strengthened to facilitate the ecological and digital transition – added the Minister – especially with the training of professionals capable of directing and managing it effectively in the coming years”.
“To face the challenges of sustainability, the contribution of skills and research is fundamental, in particular in the discovery of innovative technological solutions that allow Italy to be increasingly competitive without negatively affecting the environment” said the Minister of the University and of Research, Maria Cristina Messa. “In all the NRP’s actions on research managed by the MUR, the constraint of contributing, in terms of contents and resources, to the ecological transition is transversal and all projects must provide for quotas oriented in this sense. Only by working together and creating a system – he concluded – will we achieve the objectives set “.
The research activity are aimed at developing solutions and innovations technological to accelerate and make the transition towards ‘carbon neutral cities’ fair, reduce polluting emissions from urban mobility, local public transport and logistics, guarantee the overcoming of internal combustion vehicles for the mobility of people and goods through the use of innovative batteries. Other areas of research and collaboration between the two Ministries are aimed at reducing the costs of production, transport and distribution of alternative energy fuels, such as hydrogen and synthetic fuels, experimenting dynamic recharging systems in road and motorway networks, integrating production systems , storage and conversion of low-emission energy over the life cycle of large infrastructures such as ports and airports.
Also, to improve the safety and the sustainability of the infrastructurethe research sectors indicated in the Protocol concern the design and implementation of advanced monitoring solutions, such as sensors, satellites and innovative digital systems, the experimentation of methodologies for the construction and adaptation of existing buildings to the models ofZero Emission Building‘also for the self-production of energy, the sustainable electrical conversion of residential heating and industrial districts, the development of new materials, in particular biomaterials. The collaboration between the two ministries for research and training activities is also aimed at increasing the resilience of water systems and reducing waste, developing industrial conversion projects towards energy efficiency in sectors where transformation processes are already in progress. act, such as that of hydrocarbons and automotive.
With the signing of the agreement, the Ministries will initiate a cooperation strengthened to map the skills and abilities of research bodies and universities on the topics covered by the agreement, they will coordinate joint initiatives on the topics of research, innovation and training, and will launch doctoral courses, to ensure greater adherence to the professional needs of the work, and training projects that offer the opportunity for concrete experiences for students, PhD students and PhDs. The activities and initiatives will be carried out with the subscription of Agreements operational between Mims and Mur who may also involve other institutional subjects.
The establishment of a Steering Committeecomposed of the two Ministers (or their delegates) and two representatives from each Dicastery, to facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the protocol and propose joint actions.
