Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, on his Twitter account, after the “National Technologies and New Investments Collective Opening and Promotion Ceremony” held at Turkish Aerospace Industries AŞ (TUSAŞ) facilities in Kahramankazan, the Space Systems Integration and Test Center within TAI shared about the visit.
In his post, Varank stated that he stopped by TÜBİTAK UZAY employees working night shifts, “Turkey’s first sub-meter resolution national observation satellite IMECE, designed and produced from scratch, will be ready to be sent into space in the last quarter of 2022.” used the phrase.

SOLAR PANEL OPENING TESTS COMPLETED
According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent, during his visit to Minister Varank, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, TUSAŞ General Manager Temel Kotil and TÜBİTAK Institute Director Mesut Gökten were also accompanied.
Varank got information about the studies by examining the flight model of the IMECE satellite, where preparations were made for the solar panel opening tests. The solar panel opening tests of the satellite were successfully completed today.
It is aimed to minimize foreign dependency in critical space technologies by sending the satellite into space with the subsystems developed in the IMECE Infrastructure Project to meet Turkey’s high resolution image needs.
In particular, with the development of imaging, communication, satellite management equipment (flight computer), electric propulsion, power and orientation determination subsystems with national means, commercial equipment with high added value will be available in the domestic and international markets.
WHEN WILL IMECE BE LAUNCHED TO SPACE?
The IMECE satellite, developed by TÜBİTAK UZAY, is scheduled to complete ground tests in the last quarter of the year and launch in the first quarter of 2023.
