Charlotte Kalla has put her elite career on the shelf.
Now the icon gets a new assignment in cross-country skiing.
– It feels like a dream, she says.
Charlotte Kalla is undoubtedly one of our greatest cross-country skiers of all time. She tops Sweden’s list of most won Olympic medals, and has become enormously popular in Swedish homes.
Nice tributes
In total, Charlotte Kalla has won nine Olympic medals and three World Cup gold medals. But all good things have an end – and after this season, the Swede announced that she is ending her career, and putting the cross-country skis on the shelf for good.
After the announcement, she has been hailed as one of Sweden’s foremost of all time. When she went to the finish line in her very last race – during the Swedish Championship week in Piteå – the entire national team showed their appreciation for Charlotte Kalla and arranged a tribute that has never been seen before.
That was two months ago and since then there have been many question marks and speculations about what Charlotte Kalla will do next.
New job
Now it is clear that the icon has completed a new assignment – which keeps her in cross-country skiing to some extent. She will be an ambassador for Skistar, just like Nils van der Poel, and will develop a clothing collection for cross-country skiing and outdoor training.
She will also inspire movement joy and activity.
“During my elite career, I often longed for the camp days in the mountains. The change of environment gave me both relaxation with the open views and adventure or drama with the hills that the mountains offer. I hope to inspire more people to experience the mountains all year round and personally it feels like a dream to continue to spend time in the mountains “, says Kalla himself in a press release.
