The 15-time major winner Tiger Woods took to Twitter with his decision to stand over the US Open at Brookline next week.
Instead, he wants to continue rehabilitating the leg injuries he received in a car accident last year.
Woods played in the PGA Championship last month, but withdrew after the third round.
“I have previously informed the USGA (organizer) that I will not be playing in the US Open as my body needs more time to get stronger to play major competitions,” Woods writes.
The 46-year-old golf star has previously said he will play the British Open at St Andrews which starts on July 14. Those plans stand firm, he writes:
“I’m very expectant of being back out there soon,” Woods writes.
