Poulin will work with player development on a consulting basis for the classic club.
– Marie-Philip is one of the best players on the planet and she has won at the highest level, which will be beneficial for our players. Her knowledge, leadership and way of watching ice hockey will surely make the Montreal Canadiens’ organization better, says general manager Kent Hughes in a statement on the club’s website.
31-year-old Poulin has, to say the least, a huge track record. Among other things, she has won two World Cup golds and three Olympic golds with Canada. At the Olympics in Beijing last winter, she was team captain for Canada’s gold team and finished second in the tournament’s scoring with 17 points (6 + 11) in seven matches.
Poulin is not the only female star who works with player development in the NHL. Since 2020, American star player Kendall Coyne Schofield has been working for the Chicago Blackhawks while she herself is active as a player.
