Filming for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is long overdue. Still tumble little by little more exciting names one whose participation was not yet known. Just last week we reported that The Suicide Squad star Daniela Melchior has joined the Marvel sequel.
At the weekend the next promising name was added. As Deadline reports, Maria Bakalova is also part of the cast of the highly anticipated MCU film. Director and screenwriter James Gunn confirmed their involvement on Twitter and teased her role in Guardians of the Galaxy 3: “Maria Bakalova is amazing.”

It is unclear exactly what role this is. Deadline writes of a key role, which is consistent with Gunn’s previous statements. The creative mind behind the Guardians series has hinted in the past that there might be another in the cast Special person hidden with a special role.

Bakalova celebrated her breakthrough two years ago on the streaming service Amazon Prime. There she stole the show from Sacha Baron Cohen in Borat 2: Connection Moviefilm. She was most recently seen in the Hollywood satire The Bubble, which tells of the shooting of an action blockbuster during the corona pandemic.
When is Guardians of the Galaxy in cinemas?
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 launches on May 3, 2023 in German cinemas. Before that, we’ll see the chaotic Marvel squad again in Thor 4: Love and Thunder (July 6, 2022) and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (December 2022).
