The German Bundesliga once again fascinates Finnish wrestlers.
For the autumn, the club performances of Ilmajoki Racers will start in the German Bundesliga Konsta Mäenpää and Matias Lipasti and the spark of Upper Tikkurila Tuomas Lahti.
Mäenpää, the 130-kg wrestler, won a contract with the ASV Mainz club. He will have 4-5 matches in the regular season and then any medal matches.
– I was asked to the Bundesliga as early as 2019. I guess it was because I won my series in the German gp. Because of my surgical operations, I missed Germany at the time, Mäenpää says.
How big is the reward now?
– I get enough money to leave, Mäenpää says.
Lipasti, who weighs in the 77-kilo series, is more open to wrestling fees than Mäenpää.
– If all goes well, there will be thousands of euros in wrestling money. Yes, it is welcome to go bankrupt, Lipasti growls.
Match feel guaranteed
Lipasti, who wrestles in the ranks of SC Siegfried Kleinostheim, reminds that people go to Germany primarily because of tough matches and the feeling of a match. The drawer wrestles at least the first set, a maximum of six matches.
– I was first invited to the Bundesliga in 2017. I wrestled at 66kg at the time, and my civilian weight was much higher, so it would have been constant bills with weights back then. Now it is worth saying what the Bundesliga really is, Lipasti, the league’s first-timer, explains.
Mäenpää also reminds of the importance of matches.
– A wrestler has to wrestle, it’s that simple, Mäenpää says.
The 130-kg Lahti, which is rehabilitating its back problems, represents the RC CWS Düren-Merken club in the Bundesliga.
