The Swedish Transport Administration has been working to improve the bridge since April. Meanwhile, a lane has been open to passers-by. But passers-by have not respected signage.
– Unfortunately, we have to close the road because the working environment for those who work on the bridge is not safe. A positive effect of being forced to close is that we can now work undisturbed and thus more efficiently. This means that the work will go two to three weeks faster, says Alexander Vengelin, project manager at the Swedish Transport Administration in a press release.
During the shutdown, traffic is diverted via Vemdalen and Rätansbyn, which means about 30 minutes longer travel time. The bridge is closed until June 13.
