Multiple charges after reported break-in

Police make warrant arrests

Chatham-Kent police attended a residence in Wallaceburg for a break and enter on Saturday afternoon.

A man had attended the residence earlier in the day to help the woman who resided there, police said. A few hours after the man left, the woman reportedly noticed her window screen tampered with and her purse stolen.

Police learned that the woman’s Visa card was allegedly used at numerous locations in Wallaceburg. Police attend the locations and identified the suspect through video surveillance.

The 42-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with break and enter, five counts of credit card theft, and five counts of fraud. He was held for bail.

Drug load ugly

On Saturday, police located a man walking on Queen Street in Chatham.

Police learned the man had an outstanding warrant and he was arrested. Upon being searched, he was found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine.

The 26-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with drug possession and held for bail.

Domestic-related offenses

Early Sunday, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Wallaceburg.

It was alleged a woman threw a candlestick at a man’s head and damaged his property.

The 29-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of mischief under $5,000. She was later released with conditions.
