NBA stars support Russian captured basketball legend during second championship

Boston Celtics players wore t-shirts to support the release of Brittney Griner. Celtics lead the final series against the Golden State Warriors.

An American basketball player imprisoned in Russia Brittney Griner has received visible support during the second final match of the NBA League as several Boston Celtics players carried a message in support of Griner in their t-shirts.

The Celtics and Golden State Warriors will once again face Finnish time at 3 a.m. Sunday through Monday. Boston won the opening match 120-108. Four wins are required for the championship.

Griner has been imprisoned in Russia since February. He had arrived to strengthen the UMMC in Yekaterinburg while the WNBA is on hiatus. Griner was arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling.

In mid-May, Griner’s pre-trial detention was extended for a month.

Griner is considered one of the women’s basketball players of all time: she has won Olympic gold, the WNBA Championship, the Russian League three times, the Euroleague Fourth and the University Championship.

– The initiative came from the players’ association, but as a team we wanted to show our support for Brittney Griner. He’s been there a long time and we think that’s enough, Celtics Jaylen Bowen stated at the beginning of the press conference.

Jason Tatum said he had the opportunity to see Griner at the Tokyo Olympics.

– He lights the room with his person. It’s really hard to see what he’s going to have to go through. We know we all think the same, support him together, and want him to get home to his family, Tatum said.

Support for Griner has come in the least. According to the most critical, little attention has been paid.
