For about 300 years the Vikings terrorized Europe and were mostly regarded as “barbarians” who robbed, plundered and murdered. However, the docu-series turns the tables and chooses one similar approach as Vikings: She sees the Scandinavians of the 8th to 11th centuries not only as destroyers, but also as explorers with their own culture. From the English monastery of Lindisfarne to the Kievan Rus and from Constantinople to North America, they advanced on their boats. The merging of old legends and archaeological finds puts the Vikings in a new historical light.
