In 900 years Utrecht was made by newcomers

Van Santen and Van Vliet go through the Utrecht history of the last nine centuries chronologically in sixteen chapters. They look at the key moments and how new groups of Utrecht residents experienced those times. From the acquisition of city rights on 2 June 1122 by Emperor Hendrik V, to the time of emperors and bishops, the arrival of the university, workers from Amsterdam who came to work here, the Second World War and the arrival of guest workers.
