Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness convinces many Marvel fans with crazy ideas and more than just a pinch of horror. Various viewers enjoy a zombie version of the hero (Benedict Cumberbatch). But of all things, director Sam Raimi had his doubts at first.
Beware of spoilers for Doctor Strange 2.
Horror expert Sam Raimi doubted Zombie in Doctor Strange 2
Screenwriter Michael Waldron revealed this in an interview with Polygon.
I wanted the film to feel like Sam Raimi. But Sam didn’t come in and say, “Give me a zombie.” When I gave him the idea of [un]dead Strange proposed, he had serious doubts. People shouldn’t believe that he […] just doing his Sam Raimi thing. Only when we do [auf eine andere Weise] could justify, he was [bei Zombie-Strange] on board.
Raimi didn’t want to be pigeonholed, which is understandable. After all, he’s alongside his work on the first Spider-Man trilogy known primarily as a horror master. His breakthrough came with the cult classic Tanz der Teufel.
The director and his team are obviously working very conscientiously to hitting the right note with Doctor Strange 2. The brutal murder of a Marvel villain also apparently fell victim to the scissors. The trouble was worth it. The MCU cracker is a big box office hit (via Forbes).
