Anyone who has wondered about the horror elements in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness should take a look at Sam Raimi’s spectacular breakout film. In the early 80s, the director delivered bloody splatter horror which quickly became a cult with its handmade effects and lots of morbid madness.
In Germany, however, the strip quickly ended up on the index and was no longer allowed to be performed or sold uncensored. Tanz der Teufel inspires with a lot of rough horror and weird fun
In the plot of Sam Raimi’s film, a group of friends want to spend a fun weekend in a cabin in the woods. Of course, in horror films, this setting rarely remains a peaceful place. After the characters encounter a mysterious book that demonic curse unleashedthe bloody horror is not long in coming.

Dance of the Devils – Trailer (German)
Devil’s Dance is the typical debut of a young, wild filmmaker going wild on a low budget. As a B-movie, Raimi’s first really well-known film becomes wacky horror inferno. With playful camera angles, brutally handcrafted splatter effects and entertaining madness, fun is guaranteed from start to finish.
One discovery was also Bruce Campbell. With his Tanz der Teufel performance, the then relatively unknown actor became a star, whom Sam Raimi also brought back for the two sequels Tanz der Teufel 2 – Now there’s even more dancing and Army of Darkness.
In 1984, after the theatrical release and VHS release, Tanz der Teufel was indexed by us. According to cut reports, the horror film was only removed from the list of indexed titles in 2016. After a re-examination by the FSK, Sam Raimi’s cult film is in Germany now approved for ages 16 and up.
