Tesla CEO Elon Musk has asked his employees to return to the office or leave the company, according to an email sent to employees Tuesday night.
“Anyone who wants to work remotely should be in the office at least 40 hours a week or leave Tesla,” said the note, which was circulated on social media and was sent to the staff.
“THEY WORK AS IF THEY ARE WORKING ELSEWHERE”
Stating that it could not confirm whether the note was real, Reuters noted that it could not reach Tesla and Musk. “Let them pretend they work elsewhere,” Musk said in response to the note tweeted from an unverified account.
Tesla is among the companies that make it mandatory for their employees to return to the office after the pandemic. Musk opposed telecommuting policies and denounced Americans for trying to avoid going to work.
Some major employers have announced that their voluntary work-from-home policies may become permanent. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal noted that Twitter offices will reopen in March, but employees can work from home if they wish.
