Rantanen made his debut for the national team in a memorable way in December 2021, when he entered the field with extra time and hit Finland, a vital 1–0 victory goal against Scotland. Since then, playing time has come in ten international matches. Head coach Anna Signeul has often replaced Rantanen at the end of the field, and most likely would like to attack the summer European Championship team as well.

I know I can evolve and I can do even better. Fortunately, he has been able to score a few goals and has had a lot of playing time, especially in the final games. I have been happy with what I have done, Rantanen assures.
