[Mis à jour le 30 mai 2022 à 10h06] The circulation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, responsible for the global Covid pandemic always slow down with 16,440 notnew cases counted in the last 24 hours. “In week 20 (May 16-22, 2022), the decrease in the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 continued for the sixth consecutive week, improved epidemiological indicators observed in all metropolitan areas” noted Public Health France in its epidemiological update of May 26, 2022.”Incidence and positivity rates were down in all age groups and the number hospital admissions continued to decline on a national level“adds the health body. The vaccination is complete for more than 79.7% of the population. In Overseas, however, the virological indicators remain very high and still up slightly in Martinique, but with a very moderate effect on hospitalizations. Every day, Public Health France presents a dashboard key epidemic monitoring indicators: confirmed cases, death, hospitalizationsadmissions in intensive care or critical care, contaminationdigits of the vaccination… To which are added the data published by the government. Since mid-May the figures are no longer updated daily by Santé Publique France and the government dashboard. We present here the latest figures available as of Monday 30 May 2022.

How many French people are vaccinated against Covid?

Vaccination against Covid-19 continues in France. At May 23, 2022according to Santé Publique France, the estimate of vaccination coverage in the general population from the Covid Vaccine was 79.7% for a complete primary vaccination and 59.4% for the booster dose. The booster dose vaccination coverage was 74.2% among those aged 18 and over and 84.1% among those aged 65 and over. In addition, 9.8% of children aged 10 to 11 had received a first dose of vaccine (3.3% for 5 to 9 year olds).

79.7% of the French population is fully vaccinated and 19.2% is not vaccinated (the others having a still incomplete vaccination schedule). Twice a month, the Data-gouv.fr site publishes the distribution of positive Covid cases according to the person’s vaccination. “This delay is necessary for the vaccination to be considered complete and effective (at +7 days) and for the data on the tests to be consolidated” specifies the site. These indicators reflect the number of positive RT-PCR tests per 100,000 vaccinated or unvaccinated people aged 20 and over.

How many Covid deaths in France?

Government and Public Health France sites report Covid deaths in hospitals and in social and medico-social establishments, i.e. 147,568 to May 17, 2022. Covid deaths outside these structures are not recorded in real time. “About 18,000 deaths have occurred since December 15, 2021, emphasizes the Scientific Council in its Notice from March 11, a significant part of which is linked to Omicron variants, so-called mild variants), and this, with a certain form of trivialization and indifference.”

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, theInsee recorded a “exceptional mortality in 2020” with almost 669,000 deaths from all causes, i.e. 56,000 more deaths than in 2019 (+9%).

According to’INED68,000 deaths are attributable to the Covid epidemic in 2020.
