Heat warning issued for Sarnia Lambton

A heat warning for Sunday and Monday has been issued by Environment Canada.

Daytime maximum temperatures of 31 C or higher, with Humidex values reaching 40 C, are expected both days and overnight temperatures are forecast to fall to only near 20 C, providing little relief.

A cold front is expected to move through the region Tuesday, bringing an end to extreme heat, Environment Canada said in the warning posted early Sunday morning.

“Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion,” the warning states.

Risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors, Environment Canada said.
