Five convicted of smuggled guns

In connection with a raid in Lilla Edet municipality in the autumn, a police dog sniffed up a gearbox where several ready-to-fire and loaded pistols had been hidden.

Five men in their 20s and 30s are now sentenced to between one and a half and four years in prison, local media reports. Two of the men are convicted of, among other things, extremely serious gun crime.

According to Vänersborg District Court, it is about ten to 13 pistols that the men smuggled and hid to be resold in criminal circles.

Four of the men were arrested in connection with a major police operation in September last year. The fifth man has been in custody since January this year.

All deny the crime.
