“Have something good going on”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Three weeks to the World Cup.
Then Sarah Sjöström shows super form.
She left the swimming tour Mare Nostrum with five (!) Of five final victories.

Sarah Sjöström had a difficult last year, where the charge for the Olympics was completely destroyed after a fall in the middle of winter at home in Sweden. She fell so badly that she had to have elbow surgery, and it was strong that she even got to start in the Olympics. But it turned out to be a sensational silver anyway.

Dominated again

During the autumn, she really found her form and during the World Short Course Championships it became a Swedish medal record, much thanks to Sjöström in super form. During the winter, she has continued to line up victories, and in June, she finally gets the chance for revenge at a major championship again, after last year’s Olympic miss.

In less than three weeks, this year’s long distance WC will start in Budapest, and the championship summer will then continue with the EC in August. And Sjöström could hardly have been in better shape. Sjöström has competed in two of the sub-competitions in Mare Nostrum, which has a total of three sub-stages, and talks about success. Last weekend it was two of two victories in Monaco, and this weekend she actually topped it.

Incredible results

In total, she competed in three finals over the weekend, in Canet, and she won all three finals. So she left the tour with five (!) Out of five possible wins, and she also offered fantastic times. When she won the 50 meter freestyle, she did it in the second fastest time of the year in the world, just beaten by herself.

Sjöström was, for understandable reasons, satisfied with what she delivered.

– It was very good. I am happy with the competitions and had some good days with good training between the competitions as well. Everything feels good and I hope I have some steps to take, she tells SVT.

The competitions were also Sjöström’s last before the WC, which starts on 18 June. And Sjöström agrees that she is about to top the form properly.

– It feels good. I feel like I have something good going on, so it will be exciting to see. I hope that it is possible to take a few tenths more during the World Cup, says the star.
