By the early 1990s, the slasher film was almost entirely dead. Too often in the pre-1990s, the horror subgenre was flooded with countless copies and generic works. When Wes Craven then Scream in 1996 – scream! released, the slasher was ironically buried and completely revolutionized at the same time.
If you’ve never seen Scream or want to watch it again, today is your chance. Sixx is broadcasting the horror classic tonight. This year Cravens masterful reckoning with the subgenre also strongly continued.
Scream has dismantled the horror genre and reassembled it in a radiant way
With a lot of meta-humor, the director takes aim at the genre in Scream, without neglecting its gripping and frightening roots. Here are the victims of the iconic Ghostface killer no worn-out genre stereotypes. In Scream, the high school teens themselves have seen all the movies they normally appear in and can partially recite the rules of the genre by heart.

That you this meta-consciousness in the end still doesn’t get a decisive advantage over the killer is a feature that clearly sets Craven’s film apart from pure parody.
Even if Scream is a funny parody, the director still has his film with him mercilessly thrilling sequences and brutal deaths peppered. As a result, Scream exhibits its own origins with constant quotes, in order to ignite the set of rules in this new context as horror fireworks.
11 years after Scream 4, the fifth part of the horror series was released in 2022. The one simply titled Scream Mixture of sequel and reboot ruthlessly and entertainingly settles accounts with the film industry and toxic fans.
