Since the road through the roundabout is state-run, it is the Swedish Transport Administration that names, even if the municipality may make proposals, that states Blekinge County newspaper.
The motivation the municipality received from the authority was that the name should refer to an event and not to a geographical location. Instead, it is proposed that the roundabout be renamed the Norway Roundabout.
According to the newspaper, the municipal board’s working committee has handled the issue and chosen to follow the Swedish Transport Administration’s line. Which means that the roundabout will soon be named the Norwegian roundabout.
