Harri Heliövaara and Lloyd Glasspool have advanced to the third round in the French Open.
Harri Heliövaara and his British couple Lloyd Glasspool continue convincingly in the doubles match of the French Open.
Heliövaara and Glasspool won the pair in the second round Ariel Behar / Gonzalo Escobar 6–4, 6–2. In the opening round, the Finnish-British pair broke Escobar’s feed at the end of the batch. In the second batch the break came right at the beginning and yet another at the end of the batch.
– A great match against a tough couple. My own input and return work was absolutely fantastic, the best for a long time. We also managed to support each other with Lloyd and we still kept all our passes, which makes playing pretty easy, comments Heliövaara in the Tennis Association’s press release.
In the opening round, Heliövaara and Glasspool, who are playing for the first time in the French Open, had won the two-legged French Open champions, the German pair Kevin Krawietz / Andreas Mies in exactly the same numbers.
Uruguayan Behar and Ecuadorian Escobar defeated Heliövaara and Glasspool in Belgrade in April, where they won the entire tournament. Now the parts turned completely the other way around.
In the third round, the duo face the pair Hugo Nys (Monaco) / Jan Zielinski (Poland).
– Like us, they are a young and rising couple. Not an easy couple by any means, I’ve also lost to them this mass season – though that’s when I didn’t play with Lloyd. They are a dangerous pair, playing big rebounds and big passes. You get to play really well to make a win. Nothing but humbly moving forward.
