Moses Ingram hunts down Obi Wan Kenobi

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series brings many well-known Star Wars characters return. While Obi-Wan watches over young Luke Skywalker, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru are not far away. There is also the nasty Grand Inquisitor, who terrorized the galaxy far, far away in the Star Wars Rebels animated series, not to mention Darth Vader, who looms over events like a menacing shadow.

Between all the familiar faces, however, an unfamiliar one appears: Reva. On behalf of Vader, the intrepid Inquisitor hunts down Order 66 survivors and spins along red glowing lightsaber the sands of Tatooine. She is also present in the neon canyons of Daiyu and calls out to Obi-Wan that he cannot escape the great villain of the star saga.

Two years ago she was in hers first major production to see: In the Netflix hit The Queen’s Gambit, Ingram starred alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and steered the lost chess queen back on the right track. While the finale cemented Taylor-Joy’s fame in Hollywood, casting agencies turned their eyes to Ingram. She made it into films by Joel Coen and Michael Bay.

After the black-and-white feverish dream of Macbeth and the restless Ambulance, Obi-Wan Kenobi marks the temporary high point of Ingram’s rapid career advancement. The Reva she embodies brings in distinctive profile with to prevail against established Star Wars greats. “She doesn’t care what other people think of her. She makes her own decisions, fearless.”says Ingram.

Hard Star Wars training in the shadow of Darth Vader

It took a lot of preparation to create a villain who could stand alongside Darth Vader and the Grand Inquisitor. Ingram remembers strenuous training sessionsbefore the project even got going.

Training was definitely the hardest part. We started four months before filming. That got me completely. We worked so hard and shed a lot of sweat – the year we shot I would have passed as an athlete.

But what was it like to wield a lightsaber after all that hard training?

It felt very powerful once I got it right. It wasn’t that easy, learning all the movements and the rhythm of battles to understand. But once I got down to training and understood what I was doing… yes, I felt pretty badass.

Everyone worked with their own team, in their own bubble”she remembers.

Moses Ingram’s Star Wars story is just beginning

Like The Mandalorian and The Book by Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi was shot using the groundbreaking Stagecraft technology most recently used in the DC blockbuster The Batman. Instead of blue and green screens, the actors are there huge video walls again, which depict the environment in real time, which can also be seen later in the series.

“It’s really cool”, Ingram recounts her experiences at the volume. This is what the studio environment is called in which the Filming with Stagecraft technology take place at Lucasfilm.

It feels incredibly realistic. One must don’t pretend at all. Everything you see later is already there [beim Dreh] there – with the exception of a few things that are yet to be inserted into the picture.

Ingram cannot yet reveal exactly what was created in the volume. Lucasfilm and Disney are eagle-eyed to ensure that none of the Obi-Wan Kenobi secrets prematurely leaked to the public. “We did some things that fans certainly wouldn’t expect,” promises Ingram. “And I believe these surprises enrich the franchise in a positive way.”

She doesn’t know yet if she will return after Obi-Wan Kenobi in future Star Wars projects. “I honestly have no idea what Lucasfilm [mit Reva] plans. They can do whatever they want. I would [einer Rückkehr] but not averse. Who knows what will happen.” For now, Ingram lets him storm of publication pass yourself. “I’m very grateful to be a part of it and I hope the fans enjoy it.”
