Rally World Cup and a lot of games.
Then Marcus Grönholm’s map reader gets a sudden pain in the buttocks – and screams out his pain.
Marcus Grönholm is one of the world’s most successful rally drivers. The Swede from Finland has won two world championships, and a total of 30 (!) Competitions through his career.
Mysterious bang
With that feat, he has taken the third most victories of all time. Only Sebastien Loeb and Sebastien Ogier have taken more, and Grönholm is truly one of the Nordic region’s largest in motorsport.
The great successes have made Marcus Grönholm enormously popular with the engine audience. However, he has received a lot of attention on another platform – namely YouTube, where a clip during the World Rally Championship 2004 received real exposure. That’s when Grönholm’s map reader, Timo Rautiainen, suddenly gets a mysterious slap in the butt.
It happened – really
When Grönholm then arrives at the finish area, he is responsible for one of motorsport’s most classic interviews, where he will try to explain what really happened:
– A stone or something came through Timo’s seat. Up in Timo’s ass, says a noticeably angry Marcus Grönholm.
Several years later, however, it was revealed what really happened, and the reason behind Rautiainen’s mysterious bang. It was an iron beam that had been pushed through the floor – straight up in the map reader’s right ham.
