The Dow Jones industrial average and broad S & P500 indices rose 1.6 percent and 2.0 percent, respectively. Technology-heavy Nasdaq’s composite index increased the most: up 2.7 percent.

So far this week, the Dow Jones has risen 4.6 percent, the S & P500 4.1 percent and the Nasdaq has risen 3.5 percent, CNBC reports.
The trend on the New York Stock Exchange has otherwise pointed downwards in recent months. The Dow Jones entered the trading week with an eight-week negative weekly trend, while the S & P500 and Nasdaq had seven straight weeks with negative weekly results, according to CNBC.
