Bad Journey: What sets the season 3 horror episode above the rest of the Love, Death & Robot episodes

Some Love, Death & Robots episodes on Netflix have the bitter aftertaste that a bloody spectacle is only being held there because of the brutal show values. Episode 5 of Season 3 (Kill It Team!) shows that in the most ugly way with its cyborg bear carnage. Even Jibaro (eps. 9) draws its fascination almost entirely from the visual appeal of a siren and a knight fighting. In Mason’s rats (episode 7), on the other hand, the vermin-hating farmer’s moral reversal at the end after the whole bloodbath seems rather unmotivated. Bad trip, on the other hand, manages to get his within a very short time ghastly murderous menace at the service of the narrative to deliver.
