A man in his 60s is sentenced to three and a half years in prison after a traffic accident outside Tranås in March, when a man died, local media reports.
The man now convicted was heavily intoxicated at the time of the fatal accident, with 1.42 per mille alcohol in his blood. He also tested positive for cannabis and amphetamines.
Three cars and six people were involved in the accident that occurred on a Friday night on highway 32 south of Tranås. Four people were seriously injured, one of whom later died.
Eksjö District Court convicts the man of aggravated causing another’s death, three cases of aggravated causing of bodily injury, gross negligence in traffic, aggravated drunk driving and minor drug offenses.
In addition to the prison sentence, he must pay damages to the victims and to relatives of the man who died.
