Focus on the ingredients
Four natural ingredients are needed to make this toothpaste recipe:
– siwak powder
– vegetable coal
– baking soda
– spearmint essential oil
Siwak is a plant recognized for its purifying properties. In powder form, it cleanses the mouth and soothes the gums. Vegetable charcoal has a whitening action and helps to fight against bad breath. Finally, baking soda polishes the enamel and also helps maintain their whiteness with its anti-stain properties. These ingredients are available in organic stores, or in the form of a kit like those just launched by Aroma Zone to make its cosmetics at home.
The recipe for homemade mint toothpaste
Here’s how to make homemade mint toothpaste: in a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of siwak, 3.5 tablespoons of baking soda and three large pinches of vegetable charcoal. A very fine gray powder is then obtained. In order to add the “menthol” side of traditional toothpastes, pour about thirty drops of spearmint essential oil and mix again. Transfer it to a clean, airtight jar. The preparation is ready, all that remains is to test it!
A salty taste but clean teeth!
After moistening your toothbrush, just dip it lightly into the mixture. When brushing, the preparation has an unpleasant salty taste due to the baking soda. But in the end, the result is there: the teeth are clean and the breath is fresh! The product can be kept for 6 months.
