Monkeypox is spreading WHO has announced the number of cases

There is a panic in the world of monkeypox disease. A new statement came from the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding monkeypox, which is seen in many countries. WHO reported that monkeypox has been confirmed to have infected at least 250 people in 16 countries so far.

“NO DANGER”

Making a statement at the weekly press conference at the United Nations (UN) Geneva Office, the Head of the WHO Smallpox Secretariat, Dr. Rosamund Lewis stated that although the monkeypox virus has a tendency to spread, it is not dangerous.

Noting that at least 250 cases of monkeypox have been reported from 16 countries so far, Lewis said, “Based on what we know about the virus and its contagion, we can say that this epidemic can be brought under control.” said.

ANIMALS CARRY MOST RODENTS

Stating that the most rodent animals carry the monkeypox, Lewis stated that they suspect that the kangaroo rat, common sleeper (glis glis) and prairie dogs are the animals that spread this virus the most.

Lewis noted that monkeypox is a region-specific disease in countries such as the Central African Republic, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon, while this epidemic is rarely seen in countries that have reported cases to WHO.

SEEN IN ENGLAND ON MAY 6

After a long break, the monkeypox virus, which went out of the African continent and appeared in England on May 6, spread to 16 countries within 2 weeks.

Apart from England, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, USA, Israel and Denmark are among the countries where the monkeypox virus was detected, while the virus was last seen in the United Arab Emirates and Slovenia.

According to the WHO, smallpox vaccines can be up to 85 percent effective against the monkeypox virus.
