Stacey Abrams has been named the Democratic nominee in this fall’s Georgia gubernatorial election.
She is a rising star in the party, and will probably face incumbent Governor, Republican Brian Kemp, or challenger David Perdue, who has secured the support of ex-President Donald Trump.
Abrams narrowly lost the gubernatorial election to Kemp in 2018, but Georgia – which was previously a Republican stronghold – has moved in a democratic direction in recent years.
