The criticism that Cecilia Rose puts forward is mainly based on the fact that the new plans will lead to fewer parking opportunities, which she and the association Folkets park believe will affect their activities.
Two evenings a week, dance activities are arranged, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The pandemic is still recovering, but normally the dances attract between 200 and 900 visitors.
And it is already difficult to find parking during the evenings when there is dancing in the park.
– Last Saturday we had 200 cars in the park and if there are only 70 parking spaces, then there are almost no opportunities to find any parking here, says Cecilia Rose and continues:
– Already now we also have events that take place on other days, even if it does not take place every week. In addition, we have the neighboring business here with restaurant Svalan, which also needs parking spaces.
Has appointed an investigation
Anders Hagström (KD), chairman of the Building Committee, admits that the new plans will mean fewer parking spaces – but that this is a priority that needs to be made.
– Inside the park, we want to avoid car traffic as much as possible. However, at the outer edge of the park, in what is called neighborhood land, there are opportunities to develop additional parking spaces. We have also appointed an investigation where the administration will look in the immediate area at whether you can cooperate with others to find parking spaces that are not used as much during the evening.
