One of the best shooters is finally getting a feature that fans have been asking for for 7 years

Ubisoft’s tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Siege has been one of the best and most innovative shooters on the market for several years. A feature that the community longed for was missing for almost 7 years. With the upcoming update – Operation Vector Glare – the wish of the players will finally be granted

Which feature is it? For years, Rainbow Six: Siege players have requested a place or mode where they can test out game mechanics. So far, the player’s wish has not been fulfilled: Instead, for example, for a simple weapon test, players had to play a Traininggrounds mission (formerly Terrorist Hunt) or create a custom match.

With Operation Vector Glare, Ubisoft is now adding a shooting range to the shooter, where you can test weapons and weapon attachments (attachments) such as visors and grips in various ways.

As in Valorant: Shooting Range lets you set distances

How is the shooting range set up? A target and a dummy will be available at the shooting range to serve as your target. There will be different tracks for the dummy and the target, between which you can flexibly run back and forth.

The dummy symbolizes an opponent and has a life indicator. This allows you to understand whether the enemy would have died from your fire or would have survived.

Each target can be placed at four different distances. The maximum distance is 30 meters, the minimum distance is 5 meters. In addition, 10 meters and 20 meters can be selected as the distance to the target. As Ubisoft announced some time ago, the average distance in battles in Rainbow Six: Siege is 9 meters.

You set the distance to the target with a shot, similar to Valorant. There is a plaque hanging right next to the area the target is on. On this board, the respective distances are written with a box next to them. If you shoot into one of these boxes, the selected distance will be set.

There is also an image of the target on the range setting panel, which accurately reflects where your bullets landed. Here you can also choose whether you want to shoot at a typical round target or whether it should have the outline of an opponent.

What will be possible on the shooting range? As announced by Ubisoft in the official presentation of the upcoming season, you will be able to test all available operators on the shooting range. It is completely independent of whether you own the chosen operator or not.

Each operator has the ability to fire any available weapon on the firing range. The situation is likely to be different with gadgets such as grenades or abilities such as the Operator Capitão’s fire arrow.

In addition, visors, grips and barrel attachments can be tested. However, it is currently unclear whether changing a weapon attachment is possible smoothly on the firing range or whether you have to switch to the operator menu for this. However, the presentation of the shooting range at the season presentation suggests a smooth change.

Who is the shooting range for? Ubisoft itself announces new and returning players as the target group of the shooting range in the presentation of the upcoming season.

In general, however, the shooting range is interesting for any player who wants to test or train the recoil of a weapon or the various attachments. Especially as a result of a patch, the shooting range could be interesting for every Rainbow Six: Siege player, for example to be able to better understand a recoil change or the like.

When does Season 2, Operation Vector Glare start?

When will the shooting range be added? The Shooting Range will be released with all other new content with the start of the upcoming Operation Vector Glare season and will be playable on the test server first.

Rainbow Six: Siege test servers will launch on May 24th, 2022 with new season content. The test phase is expected to last three weeks. This was already the case with the first season of the year Operation Demon Veil.

If the rhythm of a three-week test phase should continue and the official season release in the full game takes place shortly after the end of the test phase, Operation Vector Glare will appear in the week of Monday, June 13, 2022. A release on the typical update Tuesday, May 14, 2022, seems particularly realistic.
