A stayed charge can be revisited by the Crown up to a year later.

Trevor G. Storey, 38, was found with two other men by a police officer who was originally investigating a break-in on Port Dover’s nearby Chapman Street in October 2019.
As the officer was looking into the Chapman Street complaint, a contractor working nearby approached and reported the Regent Street incident. When the officer went to check there, three men were located in the home and taken into custody.
Storey was found to have broken into the other home as well.
In court, Storey pleaded guilty to two counts of break and enter. His co-accused had their charges withdrawn in April and July.
Storey was sentenced by Justice Gethin Edward to nine months in jail and ordered to provide a sample of his DNA for the national offenders database. He will have to maintain an 18-month probation once released.
A week of offences nets man jail time
A Talbot Road man admitted to several crimes commuted against the same woman over the course of a week earlier this year.
John Charles Willard, 31, was charged with eight offenses but pleaded guilty to assault, committing mischief under $ 5,000 and breach of probation orders over a period from June 27 to July 2 when he was accused of hurting a woman, confining her and damaging items, like eye glasses, a TV remote and a couch.
Justice Gethin Edward credited Willard with four months of time already served and sent him back to jail for five more months. The judge also placed Willard on an 18 month probation.
